Bunbury Home Show - May 3rd

Well I am constantly seeking new areas and avenues to share my work with clients and gain some new experiences at the same time.  I've heard so many people say that they are so successful that they would never interact with their customers, rather their agents (or someone else) does.  I find that vision really hard to support.  I enjoy the interaction and find the experience both invigorating and inspiring.  Plus as a growing designer there is so much out there that I would never have learnt without taking on every opportunity that comes my way.  I also don't think anyone can consider themselves to be so successful that they don't need to create the personal link to their work.  For me a lot of times it actually strengthens the work by knowing the person/story behind it.  If you are one of those people who does think they are too successful to interact with customers and clients, all I'm going to do is quote the warning from Project Runway "One day you are in, the next you are out."

So in my creative journey I've decided to participate in something that will be a first for me.  I'm going to join a lovely group of ladies for a Home Show.  One day I would like to host my own open home show as well as an exclusive dinner/jewellery evening so for me this is a step towards that goal.  I've never been to one or seen one - so I'm very interested to see how it goes!

I've been doing a variety of interviews lately and the same question keeps popping up "Where do you see yourself in the future?  What are your goals as a designer?"  The problem is the more I think about it, the more I want to try.  If you know me you will know I'm addicted to writing lists.  It helps me achieve what I need to, especially when I have it written down.  Some I'm going to do that right now and set it into stone for the world to see.  Some of the ideas may be wild and crazy, but hey - a goal is just something to aim for and it is up to me whether I can achieve it or not.  This is by no means a full list, it is something I'll just have to keep adding to over time.

Short Term Goals

  • Open Home Show
  • Invite only Jewellery/Dinner Party

Medium Term Goals

  • Illustrate a childrens book
  • A second Solo Art Exhibition
  • Teach art classes at a centre

Long Term Goals

  • Gallery / Retail Shop / Cafe / Bookstore
  • Overseas Solo Art Exhibition
  • Teach art classes at my gallery
  • Teach art classes at university/college and in schools

So enough of the lists for the moment, here is your invitation to the home show that I am participating in.

I'm also addicted to writing lists. I think illustrating a children's book would be fun, I have bought a few just for the art :)

Hey Ali J! I also hear that you are going to be a contributor on the Madeit blog! Can't wait to see how that works out for ya! Cheers.

Ahhh! If only I lived closer :)

OH, how lovely! :) Best wishes for your show! How exciting!

Came over from etsy. Great work!
